Information for authors
eTextbookSuite, from Textbook Solutions, incorporates not only eTextbookViewer,
used by increasing numbers of students to read, search and annotate their eTextbooks, but now also
eTextbookCreator. With the ability to import electronic textbooks from other
popular publishing formats, eTextbookCreator allows a textbook author to create custom contents
structures to guide students through the textbook, define index entries, and add author annotations
to the book.
Concentrating solely on the electronic medium has allowed eTextbookShop to define a highly
competitive reward strategy for authors – usually offering a royalty of between 50% and 75% of
the list price of a book. This ensures that even with the reduced price of eTextbooks over their
printed counterparts, authors will still receive significantly more per copy sold.
Here's an illustration for a typical eTextbook distributed through eTextbookShop versus a printed textbook:

Typical Terms
Our distribution agreements for encrypted content books, will usually incorporate the following terms:
- Initial royalty rate of 50% of list price
- Royalty rate increasing to 75% on sales over 2000 copies (over the lifetime of the edition)
- Non-exclusivity – you're free to market your book in whatever printed or electronic formats
you wish
- Complete editorial control – you maintain all control over the content and structure of the book
- Book list price set by mutual agreement – remember, we aim to cut the price of textbooks for students
and return more of the list price to the author
- As distributor:
- eTextbookShop reserves the right to refuse distribution of any eTextbook it deems inappropriate
- eTextbookShop may suspend or refuse distribution of an eTextbook on notification of an infringement of a third party's
rights (intellectual property or otherwise)
