Based on the life of King Henry V of England, and probably written around 1599, Shakespeare's historical drama deals with the events before and after the Battle of Agincourt during the Hundred Years' War.
It is the final play in a sequence of four, being preceded by Richard II, Henry IV Part 1 and Henry IV Part 2. The two parts of Henry IV introduce audiences to 'Prince Hal', a wild, ill-disciplined boy, while in Henry V, the young prince, now king, is about to embark on the attempted conquest of France.
